Free Tornado Effects – Top-Down Lightning & Fire Tornado VFX (HD)

Free Tornado Effects for top-down games: a lightning tornado and a fire tornado, both seamless loops, in the same HD style as the characters of the series.

Lightning tornado

A storm-cloud funnel with bolts crawling round its wall and striking the ground at its foot.

Fire tornado

A funnel of fire with a hot glowing core and embers spiralling round it.

All around

Both loops keep turning while you move them, so a tornado can chase the player or sweep across the arena.

What's in the download

• Transparent PNG strips and every frame as a separate PNG
• JSON with frame size, frame count, FPS, loop and pivot (the point where the funnel touches the ground)
• Godot 4 SpriteFrames for both, ready for AnimatedSprite2D

More effects in this style

• Lightning Spell Patterns and Fire Spell Patterns: ready-timed rings, spirals, fans, rains and meteors
• Explosion Effects: seven elements in three sizes

The pattern packs are in the Spell Patterns Set, and the Effects Complete Edition has every effects and spell pattern pack. The Complete Edition has everything in the series.

More free effects in the same style: Free Weather Effects and Free Ambient Effects.

Quick import

1. Godot 4: copy an effect folder into your project and assign its SpriteFrames to an AnimatedSprite2D; put the node's origin on the pivot.
2. Other engines: slice the PNG strips using the frame size and FPS from the JSON.

FAQ

Do they match the characters? Yes: the same camera angle, light direction and HD style as every character pack in the series.

How big are they? Each frame is 320 x 448 px; the characters of the series stand about 155 px tall, so a tornado towers over them at full size.
